The Moffett Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of building materials using a truck-mounted forklift (Moffett). This role requires skill in offloading materials at job sites, often in locations where traditional dock delivery is not available. The position combines CDL driving with specialized equipment operation and strong customer service.
What You’ll Do:
- Safely operate a CDL Class A or B vehicle to deliver materials to customer job sites
- Operate a Moffett (truck-mounted forklift) to unload and place materials safely and efficiently
- Deliver materials to ground-level or designated job site areas where forklift operation is required
- Load, secure, transport, and protect materials from damage during transit
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of both truck and Moffett equipment
- Maintain accurate delivery paperwork and DOT-compliant logs
- Communicate with dispatch, warehouse teams, and customers regarding delivery instructions
- Follow all safety procedures, including PPE use and maintaining safe delivery zones
- Assist with warehouse operations, staging, and loading when needed
What You’ll Bring
- Valid CDL Class A or B license
- A1C Hoisting License
- Current DOT medical card
- Clean driving record and ability to pass MVR checks
- Ability to pass a DOT pre-employment physical and drug screening
- Experience operating forklifts; Moffett experience strongly preferred
- Strong safety awareness and equipment handling skills
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50-100 pounds occasionally
- Frequent bending, lifting, and securing loads
- Ability to enter/exit truck cab and work on job sites safely
- Subject to Criminal background search, Motor Vehicles Record Search, DOT Safety Performance History, and Full Query through FMCSA Clearinghouse.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience operating a Moffett or truck-mounted forklift
- Experience delivering building materials or working in construction supply
- OSHA 10 certification (required on some job sites)
- Forklift certification
Schedule & Work Environment
- Local, daytime routes (home daily)
- Typical schedule: Monday–Friday (with potential overtime during peak periods)
- Work performed in both warehouse and outdoor job site environments
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, and precipitation
- Ability to drive in varying weather conditions
