Job Summary
The Bistro Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional food and beverage service to guests in the hotel’s Bistro and bar while creating a welcoming, engaging, and efficient guest experience. This position prepares and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, takes and fulfills food orders, processes guest payments, and maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked Bistro and bar area.
The Bistro Bartender should have strong knowledge of beverage offerings, menu items, daily specials, and hotel services and must be comfortable working independently during assigned shifts. This position is responsible for delivering warm, friendly, and professional service while complying with all Avion Hospitality, brand, and applicable state and local food and alcohol regulations.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous bartending, restaurant, hotel, or food and beverage experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced guest service environment preferred.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification as required by applicable state or local regulations.
- Food Handler certification as required by applicable state or local regulations.
- Must meet all applicable minimum-age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages.
Job Duties & Functions
- Comply at all times with Avion Hospitality and brand standards and regulations to promote safe, efficient, and professional hotel operations.
- Provide warm, friendly, courteous, and professional service to all guests.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes, portions, presentation standards, and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Take guest food and beverage orders accurately and enter orders into the P.O.S. system.
- Serve food and beverages promptly while monitoring guest satisfaction throughout the experience.
- Verify identification of guests purchasing alcoholic beverages and comply with all applicable state and local alcohol service laws.
- Maintain required Alcohol Awareness, Food Handler, and other certifications applicable to the position.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of Bistro menus, beverage offerings, specials, promotions, and available substitutions.
- Be familiar with hotel services, amenities, hours of operation, and local area information in order to assist guests as needed.
- Process guest checks, credit card transactions, room charges, and other forms of payment accurately.
- Complete cashiering functions, cash handling procedures, closing checks, and end-of-shift paperwork in accordance with established procedures.
- Perform opening and closing procedures and assigned side work.
- Set up, stock, organize, and maintain the bar and Bistro service areas throughout the shift.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
- Clear, clean, sanitize, and reset tables, counters, bar areas, and service stations as needed.
- Maintain glassware, utensils, equipment, and supplies in a clean and sanitary condition.
- Follow proper food handling, sanitation, safety, and responsible alcohol service procedures at all times.
- Assist with food preparation and Bistro operations as required by the hotel's service model and assigned shift.
- Work collaboratively with hotel team members to ensure an efficient operation and positive guest experience.
- Complete assigned cleaning and sanitation duties before, during, and after each shift.
- Immediately report guest concerns, safety issues, equipment problems, or unusual situations to the supervisor or manager.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
