The Mechanical Designer / Detailer works closely with the Mechanical Engineering team to create accurate drawings for installation, fabrication, and assembly. This role is responsible for taking 3D engineering designs and converting them into production ready 2D drawings and assembly documentation. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, and the ability to catch design gaps before they become costly build issues.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Design & Development

• Create accurate production ready 2D detail drawings from 3D models for release to internal and external fabrication vendors.
• Create assembly drawings and documentation to support the build team throughout assembly
• Create installation drawings showing equipment footprint, anchor points, utility connections, and clearance requirements to support on-site setup
• Create pneumatic schematics to support system design, assembly, and troubleshooting
• Review 3D designs for completeness and accuracy, identifying issues such as missing holes, misalignment, incorrect tolerance or incomplete callouts.
• Apply proper GD&T, dimensioning, and drawing standards consistent with company practices and industry norms.
• Maintain drawing revision control and ensure documentation stays current with design changes
• Flag potential fabrication or assembly concerns to the design engineering team

Process & Collaboration

• Stay current with emerging drafting standards and apply them where needed.
• Attend and contribute to internal design reviews.
• Adhere to project schedules & manage priorities within multiple projects in various phases.
• Ensure adherence to company standards and best practices.
• Work closely with mechanical engineers throughout project lifecycle.

Education & Experience

• Associate’s degree in CAD, Drafting or equivalent experience.
• 1-5 years of experience in mechanical detailing/drafting.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies between models and drawings
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and project task management abilities.

Technical Proficiency

• Design Software: Autodesk Inventor (preferred); SolidWorks experience also considered; AutoCAD 2D; Autodesk Vault (product data management) 
• General software: Microsoft Office products.

This role supports drawing and documentation work across a range of automation and machine systems, which may include;

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is $70,0000-$80,000. The rate range provided is a general guideline.
