Description

Western Reserve Academy, one of the nation’s premier boarding schools, is seeking an experienced and customer-focused Campus Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, supervise staff, and maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. This full-time, 12-month position manages inventory, retail operations, customer service, and staff supervision while supporting the daily needs of students, families, faculty, staff, and visitors. 


Primary Responsibilities: 


Operational and Administrative:   

  • Manage inventory, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining accurate stock levels within the Lightspeed POS.
  • Manage online store operations and fulfill online orders.
  • Motivate employees and assist in new employee training.
  • Manage opening and closing procedures, run reports, and reconcile and balance daily transactions.
  • Operate the cash register and handle money.
  • Lead annual store inventory.
  • Purchase merchandise and supplies for the Campus Store.
  • Review invoices, resolve discrepancies, assign GL codes, and process invoices for payment. Reconcile monthly credit card statements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of school departments and operations to provide support, direction, and guidance to students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and visitors.
  • Maintain café equipment and coordinate necessary service and repairs.
  • Manage and oversee Boarding Students’ mailboxes and Package Locker Room operations.
  • Serve as liaison with the uniform company and coordinate with the school regarding dress code requirements. Assist students and families with measuring, ordering, returns, and exchanges.
  • Coordinate with the Dean’s Office regarding the student end-of-the-year checklist.

Staff and Customer Management  

  • Provide excellent customer service and resolve customer complaints.
  • Communicate with administration, students, families, visitors, faculty, and staff seeking information or assistance.
  • Maintain awareness of students with special medical needs such as diabetes and allergies.
  • Serve 200 to 300 customers daily, assisting with mail, packages, and café services.
  • Lead staff in maintaining a collaborative, service-oriented environment.

Merchandise and Marketing  

  • Plan and execute sales promotions and marketing.
  • Implement visual merchandising and maintain attractive displays.
  • Participate in store events such as visitor days, Grandparent Days, and Reunion Weekend, to support sales.

Compliance and Reporting  

  • Ensure the store complies with health and safety regulations along with the ODH Food Safety Program.
  • Participate in lockdown drills and training along with fire and tornado drills
  • Learn and follow all WRA safety protocols.
Requirements
  1. Associate degree or equivalent experience required; bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  2. Retail management experience. 
  3. Strong knowledge of retail operations and staff supervision. 
  4. Ability to lead and supervise staff effectively while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented team environment.
  5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and willingness to learn and use the Campus Store’s POS system. 
  6. Strong oral, written, mathematical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 
  7. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently and meet deadlines. 
  8. Experience with graphic design for merchandise artwork preferred. 
  9. Alignment with WRA’s mission and code of conduct.

Physical Demands:   

The Campus Store Manager regularly sits or stands, walks, uses hands and fingers to handle or feel, reaches with hands and arms, and communicates verbally. The position frequently requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling and occasionally requires climbing or balancing.

The employee must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move items weighing up to 40 pounds. The position requires close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may also move tables, merchandise, and equipment as needed for special events.
