Avion Hospitality is excited to welcome an experienced, engaging, and results-driven General Manager to lead the Hyatt Place Denver Airport.
The General Manager serves as the business and culture leader of the hotel, with overall responsibility for financial performance, guest satisfaction, associate engagement, sales execution, and the condition of the property. This leader will be highly visible and hands-on, building a strong team while ensuring the hotel consistently delivers the service and experience expected of the Hyatt Place brand.
The ideal candidate is a hospitality leader who understands that strong hotel performance starts with great people. This individual will create accountability, develop talent, drive revenue opportunities, manage expenses thoughtfully, and build strong relationships with guests, associates, ownership, Avion Hospitality, and Hyatt.
Leadership & Culture
- Provide visible, engaged leadership throughout the hotel and establish clear expectations for performance, service, and accountability.
- Build a positive, team-oriented culture centered around Avion Hospitality's values of Trust, Transparency, and Results.
- Recruit, develop, coach, and retain a strong hotel leadership team and hourly workforce.
- Establish open lines of communication and ensure associates are treated professionally, consistently, and fairly.
- Develop department leaders through ongoing coaching, performance feedback, training, and succession planning.
- Recognize strong performance and address performance or conduct concerns promptly and appropriately.
- Maintain a regular presence throughout the hotel, particularly during peak guest and operational periods.
Financial & Operational Performance
- Take ownership of the hotel's overall financial performance, including revenue, profitability, labor management, operating expenses, and flow-through.
- Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and business plans in partnership with Avion Hospitality and hotel leadership.
- Review financial results regularly and implement action plans when performance varies from expectations.
- Ensure department leaders understand their budgets, productivity expectations, labor targets, and key performance metrics.
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency while protecting the guest and associate experience.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of invoices, financial reporting, purchasing controls, and other required accounting processes.
- Protect hotel assets through appropriate financial controls, cash-handling procedures, inventory management, and loss-prevention practices.
Sales & Revenue
- Serve as an active commercial leader for the hotel and partner closely with Sales and Revenue Management to maximize market share and profitability.
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Denver Airport market, competitive hotels, demand generators, and emerging business opportunities.
- Participate in sales strategy, account development, client engagement, and revenue meetings.
- Build relationships with key accounts, clients, community partners, and other business partners.
- Support prospecting efforts and ensure the hotel leadership team understands its role in identifying and converting revenue opportunities.
- Regularly review occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, market performance, forecasts, and business mix to identify opportunities and adjust strategy.
Guest Experience & Brand Standards
- Champion an exceptional guest experience and ensure Hyatt and Avion Hospitality service standards are consistently delivered.
- Review guest feedback and performance metrics, identify trends, and establish action plans for improvement.
- Be visible and accessible to guests and personally assist in resolving significant guest concerns when appropriate.
- Ensure the hotel maintains strong standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety, and preventive maintenance.
- Conduct regular property and guest-room inspections with appropriate department leaders.
- Maintain compliance with Hyatt brand standards and successfully prepare the hotel for brand reviews, audits, and inspections.
Talent & Human Resources
- Partner with Human Resources to maintain appropriate staffing levels and proactively address recruitment and retention needs.
- Ensure hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and corrective-action practices follow Avion Hospitality policies and applicable employment laws.
- Participate in the selection of hotel leadership positions and ensure managers follow consistent hiring practices within their departments.
- Complete performance reviews for direct reports and ensure department leaders provide meaningful and timely feedback to their teams.
- Create opportunities for associates and managers to grow their careers within the hotel and Avion Hospitality.
Compliance & Asset Management
- Ensure hotel operations comply with applicable federal, state, and local requirements as well as Hyatt and Avion Hospitality policies.
- Promote a safe workplace and ensure appropriate safety, security, emergency-response, and risk-management procedures are followed.
- Ensure required licenses, certifications, inspections, and training are maintained.
- Work closely with Engineering and Housekeeping leadership to maintain the physical condition, cleanliness, and long-term value of the property.
- Ensure preventive maintenance programs are effective and capital needs are appropriately identified and communicated.
- Maintain productive relationships with Avion Hospitality's corporate support teams, ownership representatives, Hyatt, vendors, and business partners.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 6 years of progressive hotel leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant hospitality experience.
- Previous General Manager, Assistant General Manager, Director of Operations, or comparable senior hotel leadership experience strongly preferred.
- Hyatt or select-service hotel experience is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing hotel financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, labor management, and expense control.
- Strong understanding of hotel sales, revenue management, guest satisfaction, and operational performance.
- Proven ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and hold teams accountable.
- Strong business judgment with the ability to analyze financial and operational information and translate it into action.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain composed and make sound decisions in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Proficiency with hotel technology, Microsoft Office, and other business systems.
- Valid driver's license as required for the position.
