Description

Horizon Project is a nonprofit organization that provides hands-on care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We're looking for compassionate caregivers to help our clients in their homes and in the community. We have openings in our Residential & Supported Living programs, as well as our Day Support & Job Coaching programs. No prior experience or certifications are required, but experience may be considered when discussing starting pay.


Pay Scale: $16 - $18.50 depending on experience


Job Duties (may vary based on shift):

  • Give clients their medications
  • Help clients manage and track their money
  • Help clients shower, brush teeth, and go to the bathroom (male and female clients)
  • Assist with housework like cooking, cleaning, and laundry
  • Make sure the clients are healthy and notify a supervisor if there is a health concern
  • Drive clients to medical appointments or jobs
  • Take clients on community outings (museum, library, county fair, etc.)
  • Work with a diverse team to ensure quality client care
  • Plan fun activities for clients
  • Use a computer every shift to document client activities and medications
  • Quick response to medical emergencies
  • Remain calm in a chaotic environment (multiple clients and/or staff in one room)
  • Be understanding that client conditions may result in physical or verbal outbursts
  • Report all suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of clients

Schedule:

Horizon Project provides 24/7 care to clients so there are a variety of shift options. Shift openings may vary based on location.

  • Day shift
  • Swing shift
  • Graveyard (NOC) shift
  • Weekend shift differential: +$1 per hour on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must pass an ODHS Criminal background check (renewed every 3 years)
  • Must pass a drug test
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Must be able to use a computer (typing, internet navigation, email)
