The Automotive Touchup Technician is responsible for inspecting and repairing minor imperfections on the exterior paint surface for various types of vehicles. This role will also be responsible for detailing vehicles as needed. The touchup technician will provide excellent customer service and support in a fast-paced environment. This role requires attention to detail, knowledge of materials, and an understanding of minor paint touchup systems.
Responsibilities:
Inspect and Diagnose: Examine vehicle exterior for wear, minor paint damage, and potential issues.
Repairs: Perform touchup repairs on damaged exteriors utilizing available tools and paint products.
Preparation and Finish: Clean and prep exterior areas, sand and buff, paint touchup, and conduct quality checks to ensure repairs meet safety and quality standards.
Customer Service: Communicate effectively with team members/customers regarding the vehicle's condition and provide clear explanations for recommended services.
Compliance: Follow all safety regulations and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
Documentation: Record all services provided, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments, in the shop's system or service tickets.
Job Requirements:
- At least one year of touchup technician experience.
- Knowledge of automotive exterior surfaces and paint materials.
- Familiarity with various paint products and techniques.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and painting machines.
- Familiarity with detailing vehicles (wash, vacuum, etc..)
- Attention to detail and precision in repair work.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Current and valid driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Ability to work legally in the United States.
Working conditions
- Work is typically performed in a shop environment with exposure to noise, dust, and automotive chemicals.
- Exposure to adhesives, solvents and other chemicals.
- May require standing, walking, and lifting heavy objects.
