Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Company’s accounting and, with an emphasis on accurate financial records, job costing, account reconciliations, and month-end close. This position works reports to the Controller and works closely Operations teams to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and properly reflected by project and company.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Perform key components of the monthly and year-end close process.
· Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments.
· Prepare monthly balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
· Research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
· Maintain accurate general ledger activity and supporting documentation.
· Assist with intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
· Support cash management and bank reconciliations.
· Maintain fixed asset schedules and related accounting.
· Monitor project costs and ensure expenses are accurately recorded to the appropriate project and cost code.
· Review job cost activity for accuracy and investigate discrepancies.
· Partner with Project Managers and Operations to resolve job-costing and financial questions.
· Review project financial information for completeness and accuracy.
· Assist with project closeout and final accounting reconciliation.
· Provide accounting oversight and support for AP and AR processes.
· Review transactions for proper coding and accounting treatment.
· Maintain appropriate accounting documentation and internal controls.
· Assist with annual financial statement audits and other audits as required.
· Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for auditors, tax providers, and other external partners.
· Assist with implementation and improvement of accounting procedures and controls.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
· Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
· Knowledge of construction accounting and job costing preferred.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
· Strong Excel skills.
· Ability to communicate effectively with Accounting, Operations, and leadership.
· Ability to handle confidential financial information appropriately.
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.
· 5+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
· Construction accounting experience required.
· Experience with NetSuite and Procore preferred.
· CPA or CPA candidate is preferred.
Licensing/Certification:
- Required: Valid North Carolina Driver’s License
