Job Overview:
The Staff Accountant supports the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations, including cash receipts processing and reconciliation, revenue reconciliation, accounts receivable, invoicing, bank reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This role works closely with internal teams to ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded, reconciled, and maintained in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities independently while contributing to a collaborative accounting team. This position is currently on-site with work from home flexibility.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Daily bank review and reconciliations between membership batches and applicable credit card entries.
- Distributes ACH banking deposits to appropriate staff including maintaining and updating daily cash log.
- Prepares and reconciles daily cash reports – including daily uploads of membership batches to MIP.
- Assists in the monthly financial close process and maintaining the general ledger.
- Monthly invoicing of program underwriters and special events – including management of event and underwriting programs software and working with underwriting and event staff.
- Helps prepare monthly revenue reconciliations between development donor database and the general ledger.
- Assists in company audits, gathers necessary information and documents for on-time completion.
- Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization as assigned.
- Assists in reconciling company bank accounts monthly.
- Scans and deposits major giving donation checks mailed to our office.
- Assists in managing accounts receivable collections.
- Maintains knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Education and/or Experience:
- Accounting degree or related field required
- At least two years of related experience required, non-profit experience a plus
- MIP software experience a plus
Skills & Knowledge:
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
- Proficient in Google mail, docs, drive, and relevant accounting software
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Competent in required job skills and knowledge
- Exhibits ability to learn and apply new skills
- Requires minimal supervision
