Position Summary
The Manufacturing Manager runs daily plant operations. This role owns safety performance, leads the production meeting, and manages the production and supervisor teams to hit daily throughput, efficiency, and on-time delivery targets. It also works across fabrication, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly to keep work flowing, and coordinates with Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, and Maintenance to keep production ready and running.
Responsibilities
1. Own daily plant safety performance by conducting floor audits, correcting hazards, and enforcing compliance with all safety procedures.
2. Lead daily production meetings to review schedule attainment, labor allocation, equipment status, quality issues, and shipment priorities.
3. Manage hourly production and supervisor teams to achieve daily throughput, efficiency, and on-time delivery targets.
4. Monitor and coordinate workflow through fabrication, forming, welding, finishing, and assembly operations to eliminate bottlenecks.
5. Ensure adequate staffing, cross-training, and labor balancing across shifts to meet changing production demands.
6. Drive immediate resolution of quality concerns, scrap, rework, welding defects, and customer-related issues through root cause analysis.
7. Partner with maintenance to prioritize equipment downtime, preventive maintenance activities, and rapid recovery of critical production assets.
8. Track and report daily KPIs including Safety, Labor Efficiency, Schedule Attainment, OEE, Scrap, Rework, and On-Time Delivery.
9. Coordinate with Supply Chain, Planning, and Engineering to ensure material availability, production readiness, and execution of customer requirements.
10. Lead continuous improvement activities on the shop floor using Lean principles, standard work, 5S, visual management, and waste reduction initiatives.
Qualifications
• Manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in metal fabrication or sheet metal.
• Experience managing hourly production teams and supervisors.
• Working knowledge of workplace safety requirements and how to enforce them on the floor.
• Working knowledge of Lean tools: standard work, 5S, visual management, and root cause analysis.
• Comfortable tracking and reporting production measures such as OEE, scrap, and on-time delivery.
• Clear, direct communication with leadership, supervisors, and the floor.
