We are an aerospace and defense manufacturing company seeking an experienced CMM Programmer II or III to support the inspection of precision-machined metal parts.


This position creates and maintains CMM programs to verify that parts meet blueprint, customer, and quality requirements. Applicants must have hands-on experience programming CMMs and inspecting precision-machined metal parts. Experience limited to electronics, medical equipment, or non-machined products will not meet the requirements of this position.


The position level and starting pay will be based on the candidate’s CMM programming experience, technical knowledge, and ability to work independently


 Duties/Responsibilities

  • Create, test, and maintain PC-DMIS programs for precision-machined aerospace and defense parts.
  • Develop inspection programs from blueprints, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Create setup instructions, inspection plans, fixtures, and reports.
  • Confirm that programs provide accurate and repeatable results.
  • Troubleshoot CMM programming, setup, and measurement issues.
  • Perform AS9102 First Article Inspections and other inspections as needed.
  • Compare CMM results with surface plate and conventional inspection results.
  • Record inspection results and document parts that do not meet requirements.
  • Work with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production to resolve inspection issues.
  • Support CMM calibration, maintenance, training, and process improvements.
  • Follow company safety and quality procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Skills/Abilities

  • Experience programming CMMs to inspect precision-machined metal parts.
  • Experience using PC-DMIS and conventional inspection tools, including surface plate methods.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, CAD models, specifications, and GD&T requirements.
  • Knowledge of dimensional inspection, AS9102 First Article Inspections, and AS9100 quality requirements.
  • Strong shop math, computer, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to organize priorities and work independently.
  • Aerospace or defense manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Formal training in PC-DMIS, GD&T, or measurement methods is preferred.

Level II Qualifications

  • At least three years of dimensional inspection experience, including at least one year of hands-on CMM programming or program-editing experience.
  • Ability to create and update programs for routine and moderately complex parts.
  • Ability to troubleshoot common programming, setup, and measurement issues.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision.

Level III Qualifications

  • At least five years of dimensional inspection experience, including at least three years of hands-on CMM programming experience.
  • Advanced PC-DMIS programming skills.
  • Ability to independently program complex parts with tight tolerances, unusual setups, or limited-access features.
  • Ability to resolve difficult programming and measurement problems.
  • Ability to improve inspection methods while maintaining accurate results.
  • Ability to train programmers, inspectors, and production employees.
  • PC-DMIS or ASQ certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements


Job duties are performed in a temperature-controlled office and an open warehouse environment. Warehouse conditions may include changing temperatures and exposure to noise, vibrations, fumes, and chemicals.

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, and bend throughout the workday.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers repeatedly when operating inspection tools and computer equipment.
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, and turning.
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to pass an annual near-vision and color-perception test, with or without correction.

ITAR Requirement


This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations. Applicants must qualify as U.S. persons under ITAR, including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and certain protected individuals.

Candidates may choose from the following schedules:

  • Monday–Friday,  6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
  • Monday–Friday,  7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
  • Monday–Friday, 11:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
  • Monday–Friday,  3:00 p.m.–11:30 p.m.

Pay Range

  • CMM Programmer II:  $32.00–$39.00 per hour
  • CMM Programmer III: $39.00–$46.00 per hour
  • Position level and starting pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
