Inventory Control Coordinator
Carol Stream, IL • Operations
Job Type
Full-time
Description

For more than 60 years, Tyndale has helped readers discover the life-giving truths of God’s Word. Today we’re one of the largest independently owned Christian publishers in the world. Though our business has grown, our mission remains the same: to open God’s Word to as many as possible in language they can relate to and understand.

Every Bible and book we ship depends on the right inventory being in the right place at the right time. As our Inventory Control Coordinator, you’ll keep item and location data accurate and inventory moving so orders can be released, picked, and delivered to readers on schedule.

You’ll join a small, two-person Inventory Control team that works hand in hand with Distribution, Sales, Customer Service, and Production, often face to face on the warehouse floor. This is a newly created role, and we provide hands-on training, so we value a quick learner who brings a fresh perspective as much as someone who knows our systems.

What You’ll Do

  • Keep orders flowing: Analyze inventory levels and order demand, enter skid move transactions, stage backorder pick locations, and process backorder releases so high-volume retail and customer orders ship on time.
  • Protect data accuracy: Maintain item and location data, including scheduled price changes, rights restrictions, case quantities, holds, and reservations, so every record and every price that reaches the market is correct.
  • Resolve inventory discrepancies: Research variances and transaction issues, coordinate cycle counts with Distribution, and process documented adjustments that restore accurate records.
  • Manage product transitions: Execute monthly status and phase changes, repackage releases, product exits, and set and bill of materials setup so products move cleanly through their life cycle.
  • Coordinate across teams: Serve as a go-to inventory contact for Sales Operations, Customer Service, Production, Distribution, and Returns, responding to requests by email, phone, and in person.
  • Support receiving, freight, and returns: Process inbound freight and printer pre-shipment invoices, maintain receiving records, and partner with Distribution so only sellable units return to stock.

Skills and Qualifications Needed

  • Associate degree in supply chain management, business, operations, accounting, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years in inventory control, inventory analysis, distribution, warehouse operations, supply chain, or a related function
  • Working knowledge of cycle counting, backorder management, receiving, returns, item master maintenance, and warehouse location controls
  • Proficiency with JD Edwards (JDE) or a comparable ERP system
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including exporting, sorting, filtering, and using formulas to analyze and reconcile data
  • Sound judgment and analytical problem-solving for situations that don’t come with a playbook
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
  • A sense of urgency and the ability to prioritize competing, time-sensitive requests through to resolution
  • Clear written and verbal communication, with comfort working face to face across departments
  • Dependable attendance and the flexibility to start early or stay late when order volume requires it
  • Ability to learn product information and collaboration tools, including SharePoint
  • Personal alignment with and adherence to the Bible as God’s Word, and agreement with our Statement of Faith
