Director of Marketing
Description

Southwest Building Solutions (SBS) is an established Arizona construction company specializing in turnkey pre-engineered metal buildings. We provide comprehensive building solutions, helping customers navigate the entire process from initial planning and design through engineering, permitting, and construction.

Our vision is impacting lives through responsible growth and radical generosity.

Our core values are Growth, Relationships, Hard Work, and Reliability.

As we continue expanding throughout Arizona, we're looking for an experienced marketing leader who can take ownership of our marketing efforts, strengthen our brand, improve marketing performance, and help position SBS for long-term growth.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a Director of Marketing who combines strategic thinking, financial accountability, creativity, and strong leadership.

SBS currently invests approximately $800,000–$1 million annually in advertising, in addition to outside marketing agencies and service providers.

We have an established marketing operation and experienced outside partners, but we're ready to bring dedicated marketing leadership in-house.

This position will take ownership of the company's marketing strategy, advertising budget, brand development, agency relationships, marketing technology, and overall marketing performance.

The Director of Marketing will work closely with the VP of Sales and Sales Manager to ensure our marketing efforts generate quality opportunities, support sales growth, and deliver measurable results.

This is a leadership position, not simply a campaign management or content creation role.

We're looking for someone who can evaluate what's working, challenge assumptions, make informed decisions, and take responsibility for results.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing Strategy & Leadership

  • Assume full operational ownership of the marketing function, including oversight of vendors, systems, budgets, workflows, and performance.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive marketing strategy aligned with company revenue goals and long-term growth objectives.
  • Establish annual and quarterly marketing plans, priorities, and measurable performance expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve marketing effectiveness, strengthen operational efficiency, and support expansion into new markets.
  • Partner with the VP of Sales and Sales Manager to align marketing initiatives with sales performance and business priorities.
  • Provide leadership with data-driven recommendations and evaluate opportunities to build internal marketing capabilities as the company grows.

Marketing Budget & Financial Accountability

  • Manage and optimize the company's advertising and marketing budgets to maximize effectiveness and return on investment.
  • Establish a centralized marketing performance dashboard that provides leadership with clear visibility into advertising expenditures, lead sources, lead quality, conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, and marketing ROI.
  • Evaluate marketing performance based on qualified sales opportunities and customer acquisition, rather than lead volume alone.
  • Identify inefficient spending and recommend adjustments to advertising channels, budget allocations, and marketing investments.
  • Translate marketing performance data into actionable recommendations that support informed business decisions and profitable growth.

Agency & Vendor Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for outside marketing agencies, consultants, and vendors, establishing clear expectations and maintaining productive working relationships.
  • Lead recurring agency meetings to evaluate campaign performance, deliverables, recommendations, and overall effectiveness.
  • Hold external partners accountable for timelines, budgets, quality, and measurable results.
  • Coordinate marketing activities across digital advertising, SEO, website management, content development, and marketing automation.
  • Evaluate existing vendor relationships to identify opportunities to improve performance, consolidate services, eliminate redundancies, and maximize the value of current partnerships.
  • Assess which marketing functions should remain outsourced and which may benefit from being brought in-house as the company grows.

Brand Management & Creative Direction

  • Own and maintain the Southwest Building Solutions brand across all marketing channels, ensuring consistent messaging, visual identity, and brand standards.
  • Oversee creative direction for advertising, websites, social media, printed materials, and customer communications.
  • Manage branding associated with company apparel, promotional merchandise, vehicle graphics, jobsite signage, and trade show displays.
  • Ensure marketing materials communicate SBS's value, professionalism, and competitive advantages.
  • Support company culture, recruiting, and community involvement through appropriate marketing initiatives.

Content Marketing & Social Media

  • Develop and oversee a comprehensive content marketing strategy, coordinating internal resources and external partners to produce engaging, high-quality content that supports brand awareness, customer education, and lead generation.
  • Direct the planning and development of website content, blogs, videos, newsletters, email campaigns, case studies, brochures, and sales materials.
  • Maintain an organized marketing content calendar.
  • Oversee social media strategy, content quality, posting schedules, and performance.
  • Ensure content supports customer education, lead generation, brand awareness, and sales.
  • Identify opportunities to use customer projects, testimonials, and completed buildings to strengthen marketing efforts.

Website, SEO & Digital Marketing

  • Own the strategic direction and performance of the company website.
  • Coordinate website improvements, updates, and ongoing maintenance with outside partners.
  • Oversee SEO strategy, paid search, paid social advertising, landing pages, and conversion optimization.
  • Monitor website traffic, lead generation, user experience, and conversion performance.
  • Ensure digital marketing efforts are aligned with company goals and deliver measurable value.

CRM, HubSpot & Marketing Technology

  • Oversee the marketing-related functionality and effectiveness of HubSpot.
  • Improve lead tracking, marketing attribution, reporting, and sales-marketing alignment.
  • Direct the development of marketing automation, email campaigns, and customer communication sequences.
  • Collaborate with the Sales Manager to improve data accuracy and visibility throughout the sales funnel.
  • Work with outside specialists when complex technical configurations or integrations are required.
  • Evaluate marketing technologies that improve efficiency, reporting, and customer engagement.

AI & Emerging Technology

  • Identify and implement practical AI solutions that improve content development, campaign planning, reporting, analytics, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies that can improve marketing performance or reduce unnecessary costs.
  • Ensure AI-generated marketing materials meet company standards for accuracy, quality, and brand consistency.
  • Help establish effective and responsible AI practices within the marketing function.

Events, Trade Shows & Community Engagement

  • Oversee marketing support for company events, trade shows, and community initiatives.
  • Coordinate event branding, displays, promotional materials, signage, and marketing collateral.
  • Support approximately 3–4 major events annually, as business needs require.
  • Evaluate event effectiveness and identify opportunities to improve return on investment.
  • Ensure company events reflect the SBS brand and support our business objectives.

Sales & Marketing Alignment

  • Participate in regular meetings with the VP of Sales and the Sales Manager.
  • Work with sales leadership to evaluate lead quality, conversion rates, and customer acquisition performance.
  • Gather feedback from Sales Leads and SDRs to improve targeting, messaging, and campaign effectiveness.
  • Support the development of sales tools, educational materials, and customer communications.
  • Ensure marketing and sales operate with shared goals and reliable performance information.
