Senior Equipment / Fleet Manager
Description

International Drilling Equipment is seeking a Senior Equipment / Fleet Manager to join our team.

In this job, the Senior Equipment / Fleet Manager owns the coordinated operational performance of IDE-controlled high-value equipment across its lifecycle—from availability planning and preparation through sales or rental deployment, return, repair decisions and redeployment. This leader ensures the organization has an accurate view of where each machine is, what condition it is in, what is required to make it ready, when it can be committed, and the financial implications of those decisions. The role drives cross-functional accountability and resolves routine equipment issues through the responsible departments.

IDE provides high-quality foundation equipment and drill rigs, backed up by client education and ongoing equipment servicing. We are a growing, family-owned business that prides itself on attracting and retaining the best people in the foundation drilling industry. Whether your specialty is equipment sales, equipment service and maintenance, management, or administration, we want to help you achieve success with IDE. Our people and our company are as dependable as our foundation drilling equipment. At IDE, we drill deeper and work harder.

Our Mission: We consistently deliver the best products and find smart solutions for every customer, working to support a smarter, safer, and more efficient industry as a whole.

Our values: We set the PACE. Performance ~ Adaptability ~Customer Centric ~ Expertise

Core responsibilities:

Equipment visibility and lifecycle control.

  • Maintain reliable unit-level visibility for major serialized equipment, including location, configuration, physical condition, status, assigned use, service needs, and next-ready date.
  • Reconcile discrepancies between physical facts and systems records; establish clear ownership of corrections.

 Readiness and deployment coordination.

  • Lead cross-functional planning for equipment preparations, customer commitments, movement, returns and redeployment.
  • Build realistic ready-date forecasts, identify constraints early, and ensure Sales receives accurate availability information before commitments are made.

Repair, maintenance and asset cost discipline.

  • Coordinate repair requirements, estimates, prioritization and approval routing with Service and Finance.
  • Monitor asset costs, repair variance and avoidable downtime; challenge unnecessary expenditure and support economic decisions on repair, hold, redeploy or dispose, within approved company authority.

Cross-functional execution and leadership.

  •  Bring Sales, Service, Inventory, Logistics and Finance together around the equipment plan.
  • Clarify owners, deadlines, handoffs and escalation paths; address competing priorities without absorbing the responsibilities of other managers.
  • Develop reliable routines and coach teams toward consistent follow-through.

Commercial and financial asset performance.

  •  Support profitable use of equipment through better utilization, condition management, readiness reliability, damage recovery, warranty or manufacturer-credit follow-through, and asset-cost visibility.
  • Present recommendations with alternatives, evidence, risks and financial implications.

Controls, reporting and continuous improvement.

  •  Require evidence that technical, safety, customer and financial release conditions have been met before an asset is marked ready.
  • Report material exceptions, decision needs and trends to leadership.
  • Improve the simplest necessary processes rather than adding duplicate spreadsheets or parallel approval systems.

Required qualifications and leadership experience:

  • Demonstrated senior-level leadership of substantial high-value physical equipment or asset portfolios, with accountability for readiness, maintenance/repair exposure, availability, cost and measurable results.
  • Proven ability to coordinate experienced colleagues across commercial, technical and financial functions, influence without bypassing their authority and make sound decisions under conflicting priorities.
  • Comfort using asset records, cost data, schedules and evidence to make operational decisions; strong written and verbal communication and clear escalation judgment.
  • Safety and financial discipline, with willingness to require formal technical sign-offs and approvals rather than expedite by exception.
  • Capacity to learn technically specialized products and systems without needing to be the lead mechanic or product engineer.
  • Preferred: Drilling-equipment familiarity; experience in capital-intensive construction equipment, equipment rental, cranes, industrial machinery or related industries is directly relevant. Specific drilling-industry experience is not mandatory.

Measures of success:

Equipment record accuracy:

  • Reliable current location, condition, configuration and status.

Readiness reliability:

  • Original committed ready-date performance and timely identification of risks.

 Repair and asset economics:

  • Visibility and control of repair variance, equipment costs and downtime.

 Realized recoveries:

  • Verified customer-damage, warranty and manufacturer credits, as applicable.

 Leadership effectiveness:

  • Routine equipment decisions resolved with responsible departments, with timely escalation of exceptions and clear accountability.

 Physical Requirements:

  • Use of hands, fingers and wrists frequently
  • Daily work behind an office desk, field work, use of computer and telephone work
  • May need to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally

Work Hours and Environment:

  • Office environment with frequent travel exposure, to weather and elements at client sites.
  • Occasionally, to the PA site and customer locations as needed
