MRI Technologist Assistant Job Description

The Position: 

Job Summary 

The MRI technologist assistant will perform the daily clinical and administrative duties that serve our MRI patients. This individual is responsible for checking in MRI patients as they arrive for their appointment. They will also aid patients throughout their visit ensuring comfort and care throughout their time within the building. They will assist the High-Risk Department by screening patients for MRI safety, reviewing and organizing medical records and preparing specimen kits for send-out. This position is full-time M-F.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Retrieve and triage voicemails from patients and referring doctors’ offices 
• Check in MRI patients (~20 per day) and blood draw patients
• Monitor daily dashboards 
• Day ahead patient chart prep 
• Electronic billing of services 
• Maintain cancellation list and contact patients for last-minute appointments 
• Prepare blood and buccal specimen kits for genetic testing
• Oversee consent paperwork completion for genetic testing 
• Prepare patient educational materials for newly diagnosed patients 
• Ensure cleanliness of waiting room 
• Support an efficient, on-time daily schedule 
• Stock gowns, juice and snacks 
• Scanning and faxing 
• Update MRI consent form with upcoming patients via phone (front desk)
• Reviewing screening form with patient in prep room 
• Reassessing patient is safe for MRI
• Reviewing MRI procedures with patients that occur during and after MRI is complete
• Establishing IV access
• Assisting MRI tech with positioning of patient on table
• Attending to any emergencies or complications that arise during the MRI
• Drawing up of Gadolinium and Normal Saline into auto injector
• Assisting in sanitizing MRI machine between each patient
• Prepping IV kits
• Stocking of prep room and MRI room
• Assisting with MRI guided biopsy (ex: assisting doctor or running biopsy machine)
• Reviewing consent for biopsy and protocol after biopsy is performed
• Review premedications with patients

Skills and Qualifications 

• Associates degree  
• 2+ years’ experience working in healthcare practice or hospital 
• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills 
• Able to maintain highest level of confidentiality 
• Attention to detail 
• Superior customer service skills 
• Basic understanding of computer technology  

Performance Standards 

MRI Technologist Assistants are expected to perform well in a team environment, also possessing the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The expectation is that the needs of the patient are always the priority. The ability to multitask and attention to detail is essential in this role. This position reports directly to the High-Risk Department Manager. 

Hourly $26.00 and up
