MRI Technologist Job Description

The Company:

Since 1975, Elizabeth Wende Breast Center has been serving the greater Rochester, NY area with superior breast imaging technology and patient care. As the first dedicated breast clinic in the United States, EWBC is a committed leader in the field of breast imaging and breast cancer diagnosis.

The Position:

This position works within our High Risk team, using MRI to serve our high risk and newly diagnosed patients. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Review MRI procedure with the patient ensuring safety guidelines are adhered to
• Place IV and assist in positioning patient for the MRI
• Scan up to 20 patient’s daily
• Work closely with radiologists including assisting with MRI-guided biopsy procedures
• Complete accurate chart documentation
• Review patient health history and screening form responses to ensure patient is able to safely have a breast MRI 
• Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with regulations
• Remain calm and in control should a patient emergency occur
• Research implanted devices for MRI compatibility
• Ability to trouble-shoot technology errors

Skills and Qualifications

• Current state licensing
• CPR certification 
• Breast MRI experience optimal, but not required (willing to train)
• Injection certification preferred (willing to train)
• Self-motivated/independent 
• Basic computer knowledge necessary; familiarity with EHR and PACS systems beneficial
• Ability to maintain great customer service skills in a high-volume facility
• Clear communication style

Performance Standards

Our MRI technologists are expected to perform well in a team environment, also possessing the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The expectation is that the needs of the patient are always the priority. The ability to multitask and attention to detail is essential in this role. This position reports directly to the High-Risk Department Manager.

Hourly - up to $48
